Welcome to Shelton Park Elementary School, where “Lions Learn With Pride!” 

Often referred to as one of the best kept secrets at the beach, we are a school filled with great students, great staff and great opportunities to learn.  Our mission is to ensure that all students acquire the knowledge, skills, and dispositions essential to their success as ongoing learners in an effective, safe learning environment for all.  To accomplish this, our entire staff works passionately for the benefit of your child. 
  
Located in the Bayside area of Virginia Beach, 80% of our students are military dependents and 50% receive free/reduced meals.  As a result, we are a school-wide Title l school.  This classification of Title l affords us many additional perks that many other schools do not enjoy.  This includes additional technology, extra teachers, free school supplies and free summer enrichment camps for those who love to learn. 

We are also a school filled with great parents who do not expect us to work alone to promote academic success. Last year, parents and other community members logged in over 3,000 volunteer hours.  This level of stakeholder involvement helped move us toward our vision to be a responsive, collaborative, learner-centered community wherein the pursuit of academic and technological excellence will equip all learners with the skills necessary to face the future with confidence and enthusiasm.  From photo-copying to helping a student to read to assisting with our annual school’s musical, our parents have become an integral and greatly valued part of our school.
